The Flipped Classroom, created fours years ago by Johnathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams. Two teachers from Colorado, who created this idea when faced with the problem of children missing school. Usually when a child misses a day of school they have to deal with not only learning as well as making up the work they missed including learning the current lesson. It was stated prior to these teacher’s idea there wasn’t a set plan in place to help students when missing day. In order to make sure the child is still learning instead of just making up the work Bergmann, required students to watch a video and take notes including a question. The flipped classroom idea also helped improve the classroom in ways the teacher didn’t expect, but still a great outcome. There is no one set instructional design leaving it accessible for everyone to adjust how they see fit, so it can fit every classroom situation.
Open educational Resources, teaching and learning materials that you may freely use and reuse, without charge. OER is everything from a single video or lesson plan to a complete online course or curriculum, also includes the software platforms needed to create, change, and share the materials. An example of an OER, would be Khan Academy; which is a great learning website that not only help students further outside of the classroom, but also a great study tool as well. The website produces short lessons in the form of YouTube videos. This website also includes supplementary practice exercises and materials that are not only limited to students but can be used by teachers as well.
New skills acquired from working on the two PowerPoint assignments would be learning how to create navigation tabs. Although I have seen it done before when showed presentations in class it never dawned on me to ask how it was done. I also learned how to add transitions onto slides, believe it or not I never knew how to do it, mind blowing, I know. Also learned how to make my PowerPoint aesthetically pleasing. How to make everything like well together all while not making everything look exactly the same. I even learned how to use legal photos instead of just taking them from google images. Overall I have learned some great skills that would make myself a great Power Point maker as well as presenter when given the chance.
